Wow, what a great movie! Philomena is a touching journey of a mother searching for the son that was essentially taken from her in the '50s back in Ireland when she was an unwed teen mother. She kept her secret for 50 years before taking a journey to find her long lost son.
The film is perfectly put together with just the right combination of drama and comedy. Judi Dench is incredible as Philomena Lee
(the real life one was, coincidentally, at the screening we attended, which was super cool) and gives such a powerful performance. Steve is great, as well, as Martin, the journalist who writes her story.
The fact that it's a true story makes it all the more heartwarming and you find yourself rooting for Philomena and experiencing her entire adventure with her. I highly recommend it!
