I still remember sitting in my 4th grade class and listening to "Hey Mickey" on a tape recorder. At the time we thought the song was magical and as I've gotten older I don't think anything has changed. Mickey still has the power to transport me back into that 4th grade class anytime I hear it.
I used to even sing it onstage with my amazing group Vernacular Vernacular in Salt Lake City. I love this song and was thrilled to meet the woman behind the song, Toni Basil, at a Hollywood Show earlier this year. Sammy, sadly, doesn't seem all that interested in her. I guess he hasn't fallen in love with Mickey yet.
