I'm noticing a new trend on Facebook lately and I have to say I'm not a fan. It creeps me out to no end. Perhaps I'm being insensitive, but I don't understant the lure of posting on someone's wall who has passed away. I mean, I understand needing to grieve and wanting to share your memories and experiences with someone or the family of someone you loved, but writing on their wall in a casual manner? Ugh.
Today I found out that a friend of mine passed away this weekend, which is sad enough to begin with, but when I went to his Facebook page, I saw a post like this, "OMG - Just heard you passed away on Saturday. So sad! You were hysterically funny." I don't know why it bothers me. I just went back to the page and noticed much more sincere postings from other friends which don't annoy me at all. They had things they wanted to express and those made sense. Maybe when I initially heard the news, the OMG bothered me. I don't know. I'm just sad. Maybe I'm just ranting for no reason. Now I feel like writing a R.I.P. message on his wall; I make no sense.
