My friends, I never thought I'd be writing up a Pinky's Fandance wherein I featured my longtime unicorn / nemesis, Molly Ringwald. Now I realize when I say nemesis it sounds like we're feuding or that I lack love for her, but nothing could be further from the truth. I adore Molly. Please, my room is (still) covered in movie memorabilia from my beloved John Hughes films - Pretty in Pink, Breakfast Club, and Sixteen Candles.
In fact, I've been surrounded by her image for so long and have watched those movies so many times that I admit to feeling like she's my longtime friend. I know. I sound insane. It's OK - I'm used to it. The fact that I've had so many negative experiences with her in my quest for a picture over the years just broke my heart. I *may* have even cried a time or two (read: I totally cried).
I'm happy to report that my dear friend Mikey made it happen for me last night - not only did he give me the tip that she'd be doing a Q&A in Santa Monica, but he came with me and brought a pink paint pen which looks AMAZING on my album! I didn't even remember that Jon Cryer had already signed it (duh!). Now I just need Andrew McCarthy....who just happens to be doing a book signing himself soon. Coincidence? I think not. Destiny? Totally!
Molly was doing a book reading from her new book, "When It Happens To You" and I really enjoyed her selection. Sure, I was a little shocked to hear Samantha Baker say the "f" word and talk about masturbation, but I enjoyed it all the same. So much so that I bought a copy at the end and she signed it. Now, she didn't want to do the picture...trust me, she really didn't want to do it, but she did it and I'll never have to bother her again!
Of course, I didn't say my name was Pinky - after she blocked me on Twitter, I thought it best to just be Kristen for the night. :)
