See This: The Descendants
Last night I saw the best movie I've seen in a long, long time. It was so good, in fact, that it reaffirmed my faith in independent films and reminded me how satisfying it is to behold a true work of genius be unfolded on the screen.
Now, of course, it didn't hurt that George Clooney was the lead actor in the film, as I could watch him read the phone book and still be entertained. But, he was remarkable. The movie was touching, funny, sweet, dramatic, and really drew you in to the characters and their journey. The Descendants is about a man, Matt King, who's dealing with his wife being in a coma (and then finding out she cheated on him) while in the middle of a big business decision and trying to bond with his two daughters. It's an amazing film directed by the genius that is Alexander Payne and I highly recommend. Seriously, it's just SO good.
