Please No, I Won't Go
As much as I'm looking forward to my Duran Duran weekend, one thing is tearing me up inside - leaving my sweet little Sammy behind. Since I first brought him home in March, I've only been away from him overnight one time - and that was hard enough. I woke up at like 8 a.m. the next day to go get him because I couldn't stand being away and now I'm supposed to leave him for two nights? Just thinking about it makes me cry. Yes, I realize he's a dog and he'll be fine...but I won't! I don't want to go without him. I'd almost rather stay home than leave Sammy. Do you understand how much that means? Giving up DD for my puppy? Wow, I'm worse off than I thought....
Pinky's Fandance = B.J. Novak
As I love The Office, I had only a few people left to meet from the cast - Rainn Wilson, Steve Carrell, and B.J. Novak. Sadly, I never saw Steve, but I did finally get pictures with both Rainn and B.J.
Hooray! Now that Steve's gone, I'll have to focus my attention on James Spader...come out, come out wherever you are....
An Open Letter to The Loudest Man Alive
Dear (way too strong of a word, but I'm *trying* to be nice here) Cube Mate (otherwise known as The Loudest Man on Earth):
We can hear you. When you talk to yourself, spit out your incessant sunflower seeds, or constantly sigh, moan, and whisper, other people can hear you. I'm not sure why you don't realize it, but I'd really appreciate you knocking it off.
Either knock it off, or I'm going to kick you in the shin. OK, not really, but still. I pretty much hate you and your neverending noise. STOP IT.
Regards,
Pinky Lovejoy

Just In Case You Were Wondering...
I'll be spending the weekend with these handsome gentlemen, just in case you were wondering. Yep, that's right - we'll be in Las Vegas on Friday and San Diego on Saturday.
Of course, they have no idea I exist and will possibly never know of my deep and abiding love for them and their music, but no matter. My love will remain just as strong. SO. EXCITED!
Pinky's Fandance - John Benjamin Hickey
If you've ever watched The Big C, you know how brilliant John Benjamin Hickey is. He's a genius. He's amazing. I can't believe he wasn't nominated for an Emmy because he is just SO good on the show. Outstanding.
In person he's just as amazing. I loved him. He was so friendly and kind - he even asked me for my name and was so humble and sweet. Nominate this talent, Academy!

Duran Duran Rocked Nokia
My beloved Duran Duran rocked the house at Nokia in downtown LA last night. My seat was surprisingly good considering I didn't upgrade to VIP this time, but, alas, it will never compare with the front row amazement felt at the last gig.
Still, it was a great show full of beloved hits, new grooves, and a fresh multimedia displays in the background. With the exception of the floating heads (seriously, I can't even describe it - will share a pic when I find one), I loved every minute of it. The heads just creeped me out.
The only thing weird about concerts nowadays is that most of the audience is so busy recording the show, they forget to enjoy it while they're there. It's an odd thing to watch.
After the show I ran into my adorable friend E's dad, Mikael, who also directed The Rite. He's a good friend of Nick's (but, sadly, couldn't smuggle me backstage in his jacket...drat!). E told me to be on the lookout for him and I was excited to spot him in the crowd after pulling up his picture on imdb.com. He was super cool and I was stoked to meet him and his lovely wife. Being the uber dedicated Duranie that I am, I tried waiting for the band after the show, but...no go. Ah, well. Maybe next time. On the plus side, I did meet these super cute girls who were waiting it out with me and then helped me find my car (which I'd lost because I'm a genius) at 1 a.m. Thanks for the "taxi," girls! Without their kindness and patience, I'd probably *still* be wandering the streets of downtown LA right now (so, essentially, they may have saved my life). Many thanks! :)
Pinky's Fandance: Andy Samberg
To complete my SNL trifecta, the last person of the evening I met at the Emmys was none other than Andy Samberg himself.
You might recall Andy had that hilarious short with Justin Timberlake called "D*ck in a Box" a few years back. He kills me. I was afraid he wouldn't be cool in person, but he was great. Hooray for my trifecta! :)
More Coffee Stat
As I type this, I might as well have coffee being injected into my body with an IV. Actually, that would save me the time of having to go make my triple shot cup. Where would I find such a device? Staying out late for DD last night after being out almost as late the night before does not make for a well-rested girl. Still, I'm sure I'll make it. I have two days to recover before the Big Trip to Vegas and SD (for more DD, of course).
Plus, in other exciting news, my job has been officially extended through January and I've been getting lots and lots of positive feedback on my performance! Gotta love a workplace where I feel both challenged, appreciated, and valued (and it should be noted that I found out about my job from another Duranie while we were out stalking, er, waiting for the band back in March....see, good things do come from my fandom after all!).
Celebrity Wrap Up - Friday Edition
Hello and welcome to Friday's edition of Celebrity Wrap Up.
If the Stefani-Rossdale children grew up and bred with the Jolie-Pitt children, I'm fairly certain they'd be able to create their own perfect master race. Even having that many beautiful people in the room at one time now must be overwhelming.

Happy Duran Duran Week To Me!
Today launches my second Duran Duran week of the year wherein I'll, once again, see three DD concerts in five days - one in LA, one in Las Vegas, and one in San Diego. Hey, I can't help it - I know what I love and I love the Fab Four.
I'm so excited to hear their new stuff again, although, truth be told, nothing is ever going to compare to being front row in Fillmore earlier this year. Front row at DD was mind-blowing. For as many DD concerts as I've been to (and, trust me, there've been A LOT), I'll never forget the pure energy and just overall joy felt being right in the thick of it.
Of course I'm also loving that their tour colors continue to be pink and black. An homage to me, perhaps? Yes, DD, I love you, too.
Also exciting? I found out today that my beloved Robert Smith (from The Cure) will be performing several shows in LA in November. Be still my heart! I'm not sure I can handle quite this many amazing performances, but I'll certainly do my best. :)
