The Hollywood Show

Last weekend I had my first experience at the semi-annual Hollywood Collector's Show. I'd seen ads for it before, but only made my way out there in the hopes of meeting Mindy Cohn from The Facts of Life.

Unfortunately, she was only there on Saturday, so I missed her by an entire day. Fail. On the plus side, Jeff Conway was there as a last minute addition and I was stoked to see him (which we've already discussed, so I'll move on).

So, what did I think of this new experience? Well, I'm not sure.

On the plus side, there were all these Hollywood legends wherever you looked. This is me with Rich Little (!) who was just walking around. The ballroom at the Hilton is filled with booths where all these people I grew up watching sit at tables and you can buy autographs and/or pictures. Some casts are even there together and you can pose with the whole group. Now, that could be super cool. There'd been rumors of the Love Boat cast coming someday - I would jump at that picture!

On the flip side, this is an actual photo from inside the show. Isn't it a bit depressing? For some reason the location just seems sad - like where legends go to die. Is it the lighting? Is it the set-up? Is it the homemade signs? I think it's a combination of everything.

Still, I'm not sure how else I'd ever get to see the legendary Loni Anderson up close and personal. And if there are others in the future I'm dying to meet, I'd definitely go again.
