A Concert Up The Coast

Friday night I made my way up the coast to my hometown of Santa Maria to see Brian Vander Ark play a house concert. Brian is probably best known as the lead singer of The Verve Pipe (they sang that great song called The Freshman). He's got an amazing voice and the small, intimate house concert was a great venue in which to see him perform. I can't wait to download some of his solo stuff; it's magical. After the show, I made my way a little farther up the coast to see my friend's band play. Well, actually, I'm not sure what the band name is now, but years ago when I used to follow them, they were called Rollercoaster and were this fun, funky '70s band. The guy pictured above is Karl - the last original band member from Rollercoaster. In a what-a-small-world coincidence, Karl is dating my Neverending Boyfriend's sister who also now plays in the group. So, as an added bonus, not only did I get to see the band at my fave venue, I also got to see Neverending Boyfriend's sister and mom. Score!
