Friday night I made my way up the coast to my hometown of Santa Maria to see Brian Vander Ark play a house concert. Brian is probably best known as the lead singer of The Verve Pipe (
they sang that great song called The Freshman). He's got an amazing voice and the small, intimate house concert was a great venue in which to see him perform. I can't wait to download some of his solo stuff; it's magical.

After the show, I made my way a little farther up the coast to see my friend's band play. Well, actually, I'm not sure what the band name is now, but years ago when I used to follow them, they were called Rollercoaster and were this fun, funky '70s band. The guy pictured above is Karl - the last original band member from Rollercoaster. In a what-a-small-world coincidence, Karl is dating my Neverending Boyfriend's sister who also now plays in the group. So, as an added bonus, not only did I get to see the band at my fave venue, I also got to see Neverending Boyfriend's sister and mom. Score!
