They Killed Scrubs
Once upon a time, I used to be a pretty big fan of Scrubs. In its heyday, it was actually quite brilliant with its perfectly choreographed storylines filled with the right combination of comedy and drama. I loved the friendship between J.D. and Turk, all the romantic entanglements, the hilarious barbs by the Janitor, and the fact that Ricky Schroder played Nurse Paul Flowers for a season while wearing pink scrubs. I couldn't get enough.
However, as with all good things, last season marked the end of Scrubs without much fanfare. As the show had "jumped the shark" I wasn't too terribly upset, as I rarely watched it by the end anyway. Plus, with the infusion of the show being in syndication and running 24 hours a day, I'm a little bit Scrubbed out.
Still, I was a bit amused by the fact that ABC picked up the series (which used to be on NBC) and gave it another chance. I figured I'd give it a whirl and see if absence had made my heart grow fonder. But guess what? They somehow managed to KILL Scrubs! With only a few of the original cast left (excluding the Janitor, who made the whole show), it's not funny at all. In fact, it's pretty terrible AND they're now teaching in med school. WTF??! They should've left good enough alone and let it die in peace. I will NOT be watching this catastrophe.
