Christmas Came Early
As I've previously mentioned, I picked up my super cute (not to brag....) Christmas cards yesterday. Yes, it's ridiculously early. Yes, I buy WAY too many cards. Yes, I should probably "go green" and save some trees and send out e-cards instead. Phooey to that idea. Here's the thing: As much as I HATE Christmas music, I LOVE LOVE LOVE Christmas cards. I love sending them, I love getting them, and I scrapbook all the picture cards I receive each year (because, let's face it, if there's no picture, then save your stamp. I don't want your stupid store-bought card unless there's some sort of picture or something cute on it - like a flamingo or Hello Kitty. Oops, that sounded unnecessarily harsh. Apologies.) On some level, my Christmas card is on my mind all year because I'm always on the search for who will be on my card, what the cute tag line will be, and how to find the perfect card.
For the past six or seven years, I've sent out a Celebrity Christmas card (meaning me and my favorite celebrity/celebrities from that year). The first year I did it, I only inserted the picture of me and Matt Damon into my homemade Christmas cards. For some reason, people didn't read it very well because I actually received cards back that said, "What a cute new boyfriend you have!" Um, do you live under a rock? It's Matt Freaking Damon, people! From then on, I've done an actual photo card. Past cards have featured Kevin Spacey/Oliver Platt, Rosie O'Donnell, Seth Green/Danny Devito/MacCauley Culkin/Matt Dillon, Ricky Schroder/Glenn Close/SJP/Matthew Broderick, and Nic Cage/David Schwimmer. I love my cards. I'm so happy when they're all addressed, stamped and sent out. Of course, my horror is when is returned for a bad address - such a sad day! I suppose everyone has a vice - mine just happens to be Christmas cards. I don't buy fancy purses or $400 shoes...I simply send out millions of cards. Don't judge me. :)
