What's the Proper Etiquette?

So many things are digitized these days, it's hard to know what's sacred anymore. I just found out that my cousin passed away last night via a message sent on Facebook. Granted, I realize it's a quick and easy way to distribute information, but at the same time, she was my first cousin and it seems a bit crass to hear it that way. I'm not sure what I expected; it's not like I talk to many of my cousins on that side of the family (other than Christmas cards). Still, it's so sad to see someone pass who was so young. Of course, this isn't the first time I've learned of someone passing away via Facebook, so perhaps it's becoming a new standard of information? Either way, I'm not really a fan of my beloved Facebook being used as a means to distribute such sad and personal information.

I agree! Not a great way to hear of a passing! Sorry to hear that!
