Facebook Makes The World Go Round

Yesterday on Facebook I received a friend request from my big crush in 7th grade. Yes, I can admit my heart did a little pitter patter at just seeing his name (not that I did so much as kiss him back then....). I know I've said it before, but I love how the most random people can be connected through one single website. It's so much fun to catch up and reconnect with friends old and new and especially to see which of your friends know each other. I've got a friend from a neighboring city to my hometown who's friends with a guy I worked at Sizzler in Provo with ten years ago. Random! Now that my brothers finally caved (hooray!) it's fun to see what they're up to on a more regular basis, as even something as simple as a status update can help you feel close to someone else. If you're not on Facebook yet, so you should join! You'll be happy you did. :) And yes, I should be the walking poster child for Facebook. I know, I know.

I Feel, Therefore I Fight

The older I get, the worse I seem to be at fighting. When having a conversation in which there are differences of opinion, most of the time I feel like a little kid who's losing a game and just wants to stand up and throw the game on the floor instead of talking things out like a grown-up. Yesterday I actually had to think, "Am I acting like a five-year-old, or a grown-up?" before I responded. Not surprisingly, my initial reaction was to act like a five-year-old, so I changed. Instead of ignoring the situation and stomping off like a child, I tried to express myself and work things out. It was a good step at growing up....although I'm sure I've got a ways to go! :)

Celebrity Wrap Up, Monday Edition

Good morning and welcome to today's edition of Celebrity Wrap Up.I liked this picture as it represents the new and old generations of 90210. That being said, why does Jason Priestley look like a wax version of himself? Even an animal print fan like myself can appreciate when someone has gone overboard. Eva Longoria, you should be ashamed of yourself. Is Suri Cruise working a part-time job as her mother's Personal Umbrella Holder? My niece would go crazy for this umbrella. I can't decide if Kate Walsh is doing a throwback to the mod 80's or if she's trying to rock some pageboy look? Either way, it's a fashion NO.Keira Knightley is, once again, proving that she's starred in one-too-many period pieces by trying to pass off some sort of odd hodgepodge of a girdle dress. And don't get me started on whatever atrocity Sienna Miller is sporting.

Holiday Movies I Love

Before dinner with McFamily today, I went to see the new movie Four Christmases. It was totally cute and Vince Vaughn killed (as usual). It might just be added to my holiday viewing schedule. Every year there are a few choice movies to make the rotation, although my favorite holiday movie would have to be The Santa Clause (the original). Tim Allen is SO funny in that movie...he cracks me up. What about you? Do you have any movies you watch every year? Here are the other favorites to top my list (in no particular order):

One Last Christmas for Max

Before we left today, we had to have Christmas with Max, as he slept through the festivities the night before. He was hilarious opening his gifts - everything he opened was "Sweet!" "Awesome!" "Whoa!" The transformer trucks were a big hit. We also took a few more pictures (of course). Would you expect anything else? Adam is wearing the shirt I got him for Christmas - I think it looks great on him! Erin's also wearing a new tank top. Nicely done! :)

Celebrity Wrap Up, Sunday Edition

Good morning and welcome to today's edition of Celebrity Wrap Up.Why is Victoria Beckham dressed up like Inspector Gadget?Although it looks *almost* presentable, I fear Gwyneth Paltrow's hair is entering SJP territory. We'll put her at a mild terror level for now.The good news? Keanu seems to be wearing a suit and not his ratty jacket. He also appears to be smiling, which is always a plus. The bad news? What's going on with his patchy facial hair? Is that even real? Do you need me to send you a razor, Keanu? I'd be more than happy to (I'll even shave it off myself - or, even better - my friend Denelle would LOVE to shave it off). When I put a brush in the mail for Gwyneth, I'll send a razor for you, OK? Did Nicole's baby steal my super cute Sundance hat idea? That beast! :) The worst part is how stinking cute she looks in it. She's stealing my thunder!
While it's true that Katie "Brainwashed" Holmes is currently starring in Broadway, she's not, in fact, performing in Cabaret. Nor is she leaving the theater in this picture; alas, she was out to dinner with Crazy. Does Liza Minnelli know Katie raided her wardrobe?

Funny Sights from the Trip

Obviously we made it back safe and sound (with only a minimal delay at the Hoover Dam - hooray!). There were a few things in Arizona and on the ride home which couldn't go without a photo opportunity. We passed this sign driving from our hotel to my sister's house. We'd never seen a sign where the closest thing was 10 miles away (did I mention she lives on the BFE end of BFE Arizona??). Speaking of our hotel, part of the directions to get there included the phrase "turn left at the Circle K's" - yes, plural. This itty bitty town had TWO Circle K's right across the street from each other. We couldn't figure it out. I saw this animal statue at some random gas station coming home. The funniest part was the sign, since the first thing that crossed my mind when I saw the animal was an immediate desire to jump on the back and take a picture. Apparently I wasn't the only one. This was just a good tip - Arby's has this mint chocolate shake that is scrumptious delicious! Check it out if you get a chance. :)

Grandpa's a Hit!

It's so much fun watching my Dad be a Grandpa. I don't get a chance to see this very often (since it's usually just me and him hanging out), so it always makes me smile to see how cute he is with the kids. When we were little, he was busy with work, so it's fun to see him listen to their stories and do his "Donald Duck voice" while doing the "This little piggie" game. They loved it. As we were leaving today, the kids just couldn't say good-bye enough times. They kept going, "One more!" and then crawling into the car to give Grandpa one more hug. It was cute. We thought we'd never be able to leave!

Friends, Movies, and an Early Christmas

It was a nice, long day spent with family and friends today. First off, my sister had some old friends visiting and we were able to hang out with them for awhile. Next, we ventured into town for some In and Out Burger and the movies. We almost had a catastrophe when High School Musical 3 wasn't playing, but luckily we were able to get Phoenix calmed down. The boys (except for Max) went to see Twilight and the girls (with Max) went to see Madagascar 2. It was cute. Finally, we went home for our early Christmas celebration. Unfortunately, Max was worn out and missed out on all the fun. I think we did pretty good with the gifts - Phoenix was running around screaming she was so excited (as she got all things High School Musical - just like any seven-year-old would wish for). Now we need to get all packed up and ready for the long adventure back home.
