Does it Make Me Un-American???

OK, so I'm going to share with you something that may be considered rather shocking. Don't judge me for it, I'm just being honest. Are you ready? Are you still going to be my friend? Are you sure? OK, here goes.....Wait. Are you really sure? Because this might be so shocking that you're going to consider me un-patriotic and un-American and want to break up with me on the spot, but it has to be said. All right, here it is: I don't care about the Olympics. I know, I know, I may be the only person ever to feel this way, but it's true. I realize they just started and people are going Olympic crazy right now, but I just don't care. Never have. Never will. Granted, when the Games were in SLC and I was in the heart of it, I thought it was a really neat experience, but I still didn't go to any events. I mainly hung out at the cool venues, concerts, played the free games, and went to the exhibits. But spend my days watching events? Never happened.
Now, that being said, I do have the utmost respect for the dedication and perserverance it takes to become an Olympic athlete. My company has a lot of involvement with the Olympics (as we make commemorative rings for the athletes and when they were here we made the medals, as well) and I think that is SO cool and am really proud of that. And, truth be told, I may have watched a little bit of Apollo Ohno when he competed (but, come on, have you seen him? YUM). But for the most part, it's not my thing. It may be due in part to my missing the chance to see the Olympic torch come through town when I was 12, since I had play practice and missed it. No, that can't be it. I mean, it was just a torch and I ended up being able to hold a torch when it came through SLC, so I got over it. I'm not sure what it is. My grandparents used to watch it religiously (well, when "Mash" re-runs weren't on) and it just bored me to tears. Still does. Wish it didn't. Wish I could be excited and have a desire to watch and cheer on my country, but alas, it's not the case. Apparently I used up all my patriotic charm in 2002, as evidenced by the pics on here. Could I be more red, white, and blue???

Sad to say, but they bore me to death also. Plus all I could think about when I was subjected to them was...how I was going to burn some calories...
